Final Summer Reading List

Since school starts on Tuesday, I’m posting a list of the books I read this summer. There are still stacks of unread books in my house. I’m going to make a more concerted effort to keep up at least some outside reading during the school year.

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
Authentic Conversations by Jamie and Maren Showkeir
Opened Ground by Seamus Heaney (poetry)
Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder
Shop Class as Soulcraft by Matthew Crawford
Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
A River Runs Through It by Norman Maclean
messenger by Lois Lowry
Old School by Tobias Wolff
The Outsiders by SE Hinton
Gilead by Marilynne Robinson
Crossing the Unknown Sea: Work as a Pilgrimage of Identity by David Whyte

  1. I am reading Alone in the Kitchen with an Eggplant–it’s a book of essays on eating alone. Very good–think you’d enjoy it! I’ve also just read all three of Ruth Reichl’s memoirs–Tender at the Bone, Comfort Me with Apples, Garlic and Sapphires. I kinda love food writing. 🙂
